Nikon AF 50mm f/1.8D

When I bought my camera last week, they included an free hour to learn more about it.

I had my lesson today at lunchtime with Amanda.

I had gone through the manual that came with the camera and had taken some pictures over the weekend so I had an understanding of how most of the things worked. So I asked Amanda to spend some time explaining about aperture ... the smaller the F-stop number, the clearer the center of the focal point will be and the blurrier the surrounding will be. Got it! Then we spent some time talking about focal points and metering.

She asked me how I would be using my camera ... taking pictures of everything, I said. She showed me a prime lens. For close-up pictures (like of food or faces), the effect was really cool. Whatever you take a picture of is naturally bright and in sharp focus but the outer is really hazy and out of focus.

Imagine the pictures I can take of Morgan and Crumpet! And of food! So yes, I bought it.

That should be it ... I should have enough now to keep me busy and having fun for a while.

Nice! Been thinking about a new camera, but then again I really don't want to lug around something big. Enjoy your purchase.
