Moxie's Classic Grill, Thunder Bay, ON

I had lunch today at Moxie's in the Intercity Shopping Centre.

I sat on the dining room side

I ordered Chicken + Ribs.  I asked for no veggies and was given extra potatoes ... a lot of extra potatoes!  They were good but, needless to say, I couldn't finish them.  The chicken was tender and juicy.  But it was a bit on the small side and really heavily spiced.  The ribs were just okay.  I doubt I would get this again.

Delta Hotel, Thunder Bay, ON

I spent last night at the Delta Hotel in Thunder Bay.  I chose to stay here because it's on the water and I figured the view would be nice.

Here was my room.

The Foundry, Thunder Bay, ON

I had supper tonight at The Foundry.

Though it promotes itself as an Irish gastropub, it was Jazzy Thursday Night featuring the Joe Petch Quartet ... and they were good!

I ordered a meat lovers pizza ... it sounded interesting with the different kinds of meats.  Paris, my server, gave me a head's up that it was thin crust pizza and I was okay with that.  It was an okay pizza.  The crust was crispy ... a bit too crispy.  Nothing really stood out and it all tasted the same.

Terry Fox Monument, Thunder Bay, ON

I'm spending a couple days in Thunder Bay.

I'm a volunteer of the Liberty Village Terry Fox Run/Walk so I headed to the Terry Fox Monument here in Thunder Bay.  It was especially important to go considering our run/walk was just a couple days ago.

A 9-foot high bronze statue, set on a 45-ton granite base with a foundation of local amethyst, commands a breath-taking view of Lake Superior and the Sleeping Giant. The statue was erected in memory of Terry Fox, the courageous runner who after losing his leg to cancer embarked on the 'Marathon of Hope', a cross-country run in support cancer research. The site is not far from the spot where Terry was forced to end his run at 5,342 km (3,339mi) after his cancer had returned. Cancer took Terry's life on June 28, 1981.

Liberty Village Terry Fox Run/Walk, Liberty Village Park, Toronto, ON

I participated in the fourth annual Terry Fox Run/Walk this morning in the Liberty Village run/walk (it's close to my 'hood).  I'd done it the last two and this year and last year I was also a volunteer doing the social media).

Terry Fox (1958 – 1981) was a Canadian athlete, humanitarian and cancer research activist.  In 1980, he began the Marathon of Hope, a cross-country run to raise money for cancer research.  He hoped to raise one dollar from each of Canada's 24 million people.  He began in St. John's, Newfoundland, in April and ran the equivalent of a full marathon every day. After 143 days and 5,373km/3,339 miles, he was forced to end his run outside Thunder Bay, ON, when the cancer spread to his lungs. His hopes of overcoming the disease and completing his marathon ended when he died nine months later.
The annual Terry Fox Run, first held in 1981, has grown to involve millions of participants in over 60 countries and is now the world's largest one-day fundraiser for cancer research.  Almost $800 million has been raised in his name.

Before registration opened at 9am, there was lots to do.  Some volunteers attached pins to the ribbons participants would receive when they finished the run/walk.

That's Gord in the red shirt ... red shirts signify cancer survivors

We had great support for our lunch, gift bags and raffle.

Katie, a volunteer, was interviewed for a student paper.

We had coffee for all before the run/walk.

The Famous Canadian Beer Run, Toronto, ON

Today I was at the fourth annual The Famous Canadian Beer Run ... I'd done it last year and it was fun.  I think I'd signed up for this one right after the last one because they sent me an email with a low price.

Forget the medal, we give you beer! 🍺 Toronto’s beer-iest 5K fun run is back! Lace up for an easy (or hard) 5-kilometre run through Ontario Place, then cross the finish line into the heart of our Craft Beer & Food Festival where you’ll be bestowed with your own custom beer stein! Afterparty with friends, great Ontario craft beer and awesome live music!

It was held on the west island of Ontario Place.

I'd signed up for the 11am start.  I got there just after 10am to pick up my bib and teeshirt.

"Clemency", TIFF, Roy Thomson Hall, Toronto, ON

I saw Clemency starring Alfre Woodard with a couple of my work colleagues tonight ... it was part of the TIFF Festival.

Years of carrying out death row executions have taken a toll on prison warden Bernadine Williams. As she prepares to execute another inmate, Bernadine must confront the psychological and emotional demons her job creates, ultimately connecting her to the man she is sanctioned to kill.

I met Baljeet outside at 8pm and we posed in front of one of the TIFF photo opps.

    Duke Of Cornwall, Toronto, ON

Gord and I had supper this evening at the Duke of Cornwall (on University Avenue, just north of Queen Street W).

Gord order three Basket Bites ... Crispy Dry Ribs, Chris Brothers' Pepperoni and Popcorn Shrimp.  He liked them all and would get them again.
