The Irish Harp, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

Gord and I spent Wednesday until today in Niagara-on-the-Lake and stayed in the County Derry room above the The Irish Harp in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We stayed there last year and liked it.

There are three rooms and in the hallway with a shared Kerig coffee maker, microwave and water. Every morning they leave a pile of clean towels, etc. outside your door. It was odd they didn't leave a roll of toilet paper, though.

For every night you stay, you get a $25 voucher to be used in their pub, which we did Wednesday night on the patio (our voucher was $75).

It's a handy spot because it's downtown and walkable to everything. Parking is free if you can find a spot on a nearby street (which we did).

Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

Carrie, our wine tour guide yesterday, recommended the restaurant at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club as a nice spot for supper. It is the oldest existing golf course in North America … it opened in 1875.  We had supper there this evening.

"Gypsy", Shaw Festival, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

Gord and I saw Gypsy this afternoon ... it's part of the Shaw Festival.

Gypsy Rose Lee was the world’s most famous striptease artist; Momma Rose the ultimate stage mother. Follow their extraordinary story in Stephen Sondheim’s timeless musical about sex, power and longing. With legendary songs, including “Let Me Entertain You” and “Everything’s Coming up Roses,” Gypsy remains the greatest American musical.

It was at the Festival Theatre.

Gord and I

It was good, fun and lively, especially the second half. Now we're curious to see the movie.

Queen's Royal Park, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

After brunch, Gord and I walked a couple blocks towards the water and walked around Queen's Royal Park ... it's a cute park and we like it.

Wineries Tour, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON

Gord and I have been wanting to do a tour of wineries so we booked one for this afternoon with Niagara Wine Tours International. Carrie was our guide and she was friendly and knowledgeable. She was fabulous and we never felt rushed. We stopped at three wineries and ended up buying six bottles of wine.

Reif Estate was the first stop.
