The Wheatsheaf Tavern, Toronto, ON

I had supper this evening on the patio of the Wheatsheaf Tavern (King Street W/Bathurst Street).

I had supper there because it was half price wing night ... an order of wings were $10.50 (plus tax). I got mine with Buffalo sauce and they were good.

The Wheatsheaf, Toronto, ON

Gord and I had supper this evening on the patio of the Wheatsheaf Tavern (King Street W/Bathurst Street).

We were seated under a speaker and the music was really LOUD ... we had to yell to talk. I know I sound old when I say that but it was LOUD. We asked if the speaker could be turned off but it couldn't be. Our server said he would turn it down, which he did ... and we still had to yell to talk. We were considering leaving and eating elsewhere when a high top table open up away from the speakers and we moved there. Much better!

Gord ordered fish and chips and said it was good.

I ordered chicken souvlaki (with no salad). It was okay but I thought it was a bit pricey at $21 for what I got.

The Wheatsheaf, Toronto, ON

I've been to the the Wheat Sheaf many many times over the years.  They closed last summer for renovations and were scheduled to reopen on St. Patrick's Day as the Wheatsheaf Tavern ... and then COVID-19 arrived.  Their patio opened a couple weeks ago and are now the "Wheatsheaf Tavern".

The Wheatsheaf Tavern is the ultimate destination for classic tavern fare, live music, sports and whisky. Gracing the southwest corner of King and Bathurst as it has since 1849, our beloved neighbourhood classic has been thoughtfully restored with new energy and life, while retaining the magic and character of its iconic status. Whether you’re after a live show, specials during the week – half-price wings on Tuesday or wild card Wednesdays? – or catching up on the big game over a pint, The Wheatsheaf has something for you.

I'm off for the next two weeks so thought starting my vacation on the patio of the Wheatsheaf would be a good way to start.

Though the layout is the same, it's nice but different inside ...

My pal, Shawna, is in town (she moved to Regina a few years ago).  Gord and I met her at the Wheat Sheaf Tavern (King Street W/Bathurst), which is one of Toronto's oldest pubs (it opened around 1850), for supper this evening.  It's become a tradition when she comes to town.

The Wheat Sheaf, Toronto, ON

Gord had a massage after work today.  He and I met for supper afterwards at The Wheat Sheaf (King Street W/Bathurst), which is one of Toronto's oldest pubs (it opened around 1850).

There were lots of ball teams who came in after their games.

I ordered 10 medium wings.  They were really saucy and messy and good!

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights are half-price wing nights

Jimmy was our server.  He was friendly and took good care of us.
