Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

I met my pals, Franca and Liz, for supper this evening at Jack Astor's on Front Street. We've been friends for almost 30 years and it was nice to catch up.

Here we are ...

I had my usual Chicken Parmigiana (Breaded chicken, tomato sauce, smoked mozzarella, linguine, creamy cheese sauce).

Liz had Thai Coconut Curry Chicken Bowl (Sautéed chicken, seasoned jasmine rice, yellow Thai coconut curry sauce, roasted turmeric cauliflower, sweet potato, carrot, red peppers, cucumber, miso dressing, green onion, sesame seeds, peanuts, cilantro, fried taro root).

Franca had Chicken Fingers (Fresh, signature chicken tenders breaded in-house and made to order) and a salad.

All were good!

Valentina was our server and took good care of us. She left us alone to yak.

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

I met my pal, Franca, for supper this evening at Jack Astor's on Front Street. We haven’t gotten together since before COVID so it was awesome to see her and catch up.

Franca ordered a Thai Sesame Stir-fry Bowl with chicken.

I ordered my go-to at Jack Astor’s, Chicken Parmigiana. It’s been a while since I’ve had it there and the first time I’ve had it with spaghetti, which worked well. The chicken had a funny taste, though, and I realized it was the cheese .. it was a bit burnt.

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

I met my friends, Deb, Liz and Rona this evening at Jack Astor's (University/Front) for supper this evening.

We've been friends since the mid-1990s when we all worked together.

It was busy ...

I ordered what I always get at Jack Astor's ... Chicken Parmigiana.  And it was delicious!

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

I met some friends for supper tonight at Jack Astor's at University/Front Street.

Deb, Franca, Liz, Rona and I used to work together back in the mid 1990s and have been friends since.

Alas, on the way to the restaurant, Franca slipped and hurt herself.  The last we heard, she was heading home and possibly the hospital.  I hope she's okay.

And here we were ... Liz, Rona, me and Deb with our server, Chuba, who took good care of us.

I ordered wings with hot sauce, as did Deb. They were okay ... when they arrived, they were cold :(

It was fun to hang with the Chicks and catch up!

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

I met my pals, Deb, Franca and Liz for supper this evening at Jack Astor's (Front Street/University Avenue).

There is a Blue Jays game this evening and we got there just in time ... there was a line-up around the block just after we got there.

We've been friends since the mid 1990s and get together every couple of months for supper.

Liz ordered the Smiling Buddha salad.

I always get their chicken parm so tried something different ... the Easy Sell pizza without mushrooms.

Franca ordered the Crispy Honey Sesame Chicken.

Deb ordered the Roasted Garlic Shrimp Manifold ... hers looked the most fun!

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

After the Rock game, Gord and I had supper at Jack Astor's (Front/University).

It was loud, busy and stuffy inside so we sat outside on the patio.  It was 15C and there were lots of heaters.

Our beer tasted good!

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto ON (Front Street)

I had supper tonight with my pal, Franca, at Jack Astor's on Front Street.

Franca had the California Grilled Chicken Salad ( A marinated grilled fresh chicken breast and hothouse tomatoes, served on mixed greens with balsamic dressing. Topped with fresh basil, toasted pine nuts, beet curls and a balsamic glaze.)

I had what I usually have there ... Chicken Parmigiana (Fresh chicken breast, lightly breaded and topped with smoked Mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Served with bowtie pasta, tossed in a creamy cheese sauce.).  It was good, though they were a little stingy with the cheese on the chicken.

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto ON (Front Street)

I met my pal, Franca, for supper tonight at Jack Astor's (Front/University).

Franca and I have been friends since the mid-1990s ... we met when we worked for the same company (she's still there).

She was waiting for me at a table on the patio when I got there. Sweet! The patio was a popular spot as there was a Blue Jays' game around the corner this evening.

I ordered a gin/Sprite and Franca ordered a fun drink with raspberries ...

Franca ordered The Opa! pizza (New York style pizza sauce with olive oil and fresh basil, Feta and cheese, roasted red peppers, Kalamata olives, semi-sun-dried tomatoes and roasted red onions).

I ordered my usual Chicken Parmigiana (Fresh chicken breast, lightly breaded and topped with smoked Mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Served with bowtie pasta, tossed in a creamy cheese sauce).

It was good ... the pasta spicier than usual!

Andrew, our server, took good care of us.

We were there for about 3.5 hours yakkin' and catchin' up ... we hadn't seen each other since the end of March.

And here we are as we were leaving ... aren't we cute :)

Update: See the woman on the left behind Franca? She and two friends were being interviewed while we were there but we didn't know why. It turns out it was for The National about dating and SmartPhones. You can see Franca and I in the background at the 5:25 mark.

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto ON (Front Street)

I had supper with my good pals, the Chillin' Chicks ... Deb, Franca and Liz tonight. We've known each other since the mid 1990s (we worked together).

We met at Jack Astor's on Front Street ... I had the Chicken Parmigiana (Fresh chicken breast, lightly breaded and topped with smoked partly-skimmed Mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. Served with whole wheat spaghetti, tossed in a roasted garlic-basil tomato sauce).

It was good and I ate it all!

It was fun to catch up (there's so much going on!) as we hadn't see each other in a couple months.

Here we are ... Franca, Deb, Liz and I.

Jack Astor's Bar & Grill, Toronto, ON (Front Street)

My pal, Liz, and I met for supper tonight at Jack Astor's (Front Street). Liz and I worked together for a couple years in the late 1990s.

The music in the restaurant was really really really loud so we had to yell across the table at each other to talk. And it was packed!

Liz was camera shy tonight so wouldn't let me take a pic of us ... but I did take a pic of my supper.

I had Chicken Parmigiana (fresh chicken breast, lightly breaded and topped with smoked partly-skimmed Mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce; served with whole wheat spaghetti, tossed in a roasted garlic-basil tomato sauce).

It was tasty and I ate it all!

We've been friends for almost 15 years (we used to work together).

Here are me, Deb, Liz (looking goofier than usual!) and Franca ...

I had the Thai Chicken Coconut Curry (slices of fresh chicken breast, sautéed with pineapple and tomatoes in a spicy Thai red curry and peanut sauce. Served with jasmine rice.).

It was delicious! I ate it all!

It was great to see the Chicks and catch up!
