Terre Bleu Lavender Farm, Milton, ON

I've been wanting to visit Terre Bleu for a couple years.  Since Trish and I were nearby at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, we stopped in at Terre Bleu before we headed for home.

The story of Terre Bleu began when owners, Ian and Isabelle Baird, fell in love with a lavender farm while vacationing in Quebec. The two were awed by the spectacular fields of purple and the fragrant air that swirled all around, inspiring the techpreneur/biologist and Olympian/health professional duo to make a 180º change in their lives. They moved from downtown Toronto, with their young children William and Madeline, to rural Milton and began their adventurous endeavour of farming organic lavender.

In 2011, the Bairds planted their first 10,000 lavender plants. After years of careful planning and cultivation, the farm opened to the visiting public in 2014. Today, the family run business is the largest lavender farm in Ontario and is home to over 40,000 lavender plants. Terre Bleu welcomes tens of thousands of visitors every summer to share how sustainable and organic farming can have a positive impact on the world in which we live.

Spencer welcomed us and showed us a short video about the farm.

Trish and I did the 2:30pm tour.  Lindsey was our guide.  She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

She showed us the distillery building where the lavender essential oil is made.

They also have bees on the property.

Then we were left to wander around on our own.

We stopped in at the Herb Bar and had a couple refreshing (non-alcoholic) drinks ... Lavender Peach Bellini and Pineapple Lavender Mojito.

We ordered one of each and shared

This is looking back at the main building.

There are various things going on ... like a woman playing a harp in a gazebo, meditation, yoga and more.

We headed on the Yellow Bench Trail.

There was another huge field of lavender.

Before we left, we stopped in at the gift shop.  I bought a bottle of lavender essential oil and a bottle of lavender room spray.

Trish bought a lavender bath bomb and knowing how much love love love baths, surprised me by giving it to me.  Thanks, Trish!

Definitely a lovely place to visit!
