Strolling to Nassau, Bahamas

After I left Curly's, I walked to downtown Nassau (about 15 minutes with the pace I was going).

Across the street from the Fish Fry, there is a beach (Western Esplanade).  Food trucks are set up.

The beach was a lovely spot to sit for a while.

Junkanoo Beach is a public beach you'd go to if you are staying in downtown Nassau or arriving on a cruise ship for a day.

There are huts set up selling food, souveniers, drinks, etc.

Even massages!

I got to the downtown core ... it's a great place if you are a shopper (I'm not).

I headed towards the water.

Lots of conch shells being sold ... Canada doesn't let you bring them back

It was nice to get out walking ... there is so much to see.  Man, was it hot, though!

Wow, looks like a fun place to visit. Also curious why you can't bring those shells back to Canada. I seem to recall my parents had one when I was a kid.

Depending on if the shell has been treated/cleaned and if it's not an endangered species, you can bring some back. From what I hear, most don't admit on their customs declarations that they are bringing them back.
