Cosmic Alpine Scratchers rock!

When we got Byron (2002 - 2010) and Morgan in December 2002, they were three months old. Byron loved to rip at a chair we had in our spare room.

We bought a couple scratching posts but he wasn't interested and kept at the chair. A catsitter recommended the Cosmic Alpine Scratcher ... in her words, "It's all about the angle". I got one right away and Byron and Morgan loved it and Byron left the chair alone. Yay! I've bought many replacement inserts over the years.

Fast forward to this summer when we got Crumpet and she loved it too. She was small enough then that she could fit in the hole where the toy was.

Plus she loves to rip apart cardboard with her teeth so I had to tape it together in many places. As you can see, it is well-used and well-loved.

Because it is in such bad shape, I bought them another one for Christmas. It had the angle but it wasn't an Alpine Scratcher. The scratching part was different and they weren't too crazy about it.

Alas, they ignored it even after I put catnip on it. Good thing I'd kept the old one.

I was near a Pet Valu this morning and bought them a new Alpine Scratcher ... the real deal! As soon as I put it on the floor, they both went to it ... Morgan was scratching and Crumpet as trying to get the toy inside, no catnip needed. Success!

Look how happy Morgan is!

I don't have cats (allergic), but this is a great way to keep them away from the furniture!!

Oh, that's awesome! We got Mittens one of those infomercial cat scratcher things, and all she does is sit on it. She scratches the door frames of our house.
I wonder if she would use this one. Worth a try!

When we had our cat ( a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago), he messed up our couch pretty good. Mom bought a scratching post but he wouldn't touch it. If i'd only known about these.

I've ordered one off the internet - thanks for the review. Our cats' current scratching post is so tatty, it's time they had a new one.
