Toronto Rock 13, New England Black Wolves 12

Gord and I are season ticket holders for the Toronto Rock lacrosse team games ... the Rock is a professional lacrosse franchise in the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

Going into tonight's game, the Rock was in first place and were playing the New England Black Wolves (until last year they were the Philadelphia Wings).

We watched the teams warm up.

It was Superhero Night and everyone was encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero (Gord and I didn't).

The Green Lantern (aka Scotty Newlands) sang the national anthems.

The Rock huddled to get psyched before the game.

Throughout the night, heroes were recognized.  The first was Owen, a six-year-old who has had heart problems and has had a transplant.

And the game began ...

Tim and Gillian are also season ticket holders and sit in front of us ... they celebrated with the Rock scored first.

There were veterans in the crowd and they were honoured as heroes.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was tied 2 - 2.

The horse who sits behind us was dressed as his favourite superhero.

No, these guys across from us weren't dressed as their favourite superheroes ... they always dress like this.

The Toronto Rock Cheerleaders entertained.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida was in the crowd.

At the end of the second quarter, the Black Wolves were wining 6 - 4.  Oh oh!

There was a competition for the crowd to judge who was the best superhero.

These two little guys won

Iggy as usual was playing to the crowd.

In the third quarter, the padding on the goaltenders was measured.

Iggy donned a superhero costume and danced with the Rock Cheerleaders.

The Black Wolves were winning 10 - 7 at the end of the third quarter.  Oh no!

The prize for the 50/50 draw was just over $3,000.

Alas, we didn't win :(

The Rock battled back and at the end of the fourth quarter, the score was tied 12 - 12.  Overtime!

The Rock scored less than a minute into overtime and won.  Whoohoo!

Tim and Gillian showed them some love!

Despite it being a bit of a scrappy game, the two teams shook hands after the game.

Needless to say, the Rock players were happy!

Here are the top three players of the game.

The Rock thanked their fans for coming.

Number one star, Brett Hickey, was interviewed after the game.

Wow!  What an exciting game!
