Toronto’s Festival of Beer, Toronto, ON

Toronto's Festival of Beer was happening this weekend at Exhibition Place and Gord and I went today.

We've never been on a Sunday and it was fun ... in the past, we've gone on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Festival boasts almost 100 brewers featuring more than 333 beautiful brews from all over the globe. From lagers to stouts, fruit beer to ales, we have something for everyone! The Festival features more than just beer; there are several non-malt based beverages available including cider and ready-to-drink beverages! Our food vendors are all well known Toronto food purveyors creating some great grub for you to enjoy! Whether you’re looking for oysters, poutine, or a burger, you’ll be able to find the perfect thing to satisfy your appetite!

We had a meat pie from The Pie Commission and it was delicious!

There was lots of space and things to do for everyone.

There was an opportunity to "Sample Sweden", which we'd never done before so that's where we headed first.

Toronto’s Festival of Beer is giving Toronto a chance to Sample Sweden! On July 22 to 24, the festival will work alongside the Swedish-Canadian Chamber of Commerce to feature six Swedish breweries, 28 different brands of beer and two renowned Swedish Chefs, inside a 10,000 square-foot zone, at Bandshell Park in Exhibition Place.

Sample Sweden will feature some of the country’s most adored breweries. Combined, each of these breweries will bring 28 different beers for attendees to sample with the majority of them not available for purchase in Canada. These breweries include:

  • Brekeriet Beer AB Dugges Ale
  • Och Porterbryggeri
  • Gotlands Bryggeri
  • Omnipollo
  • Poppels Bryggei
  • Tempel Brygghus

I tried a couple and found them a bit sour (Gord liked them):

You could buy Swedish candy.

We watched a couple bands from Sweden (the second sang in Swedish) ... they were good!

Gord got in the Swedish spirit and got a tattoo.

On the mainstage, Abbamania came on at 3pm.

Here are Gord and I.

You could get a hat from Steamwhistle.

After we left the Sweden section, I had a couple radlers from Rickard's, which I liked.  I got a towel.

We headed to the new brews area and spent some time there.

A Naughty Otter from Gananoque Brewing Company
A blonde from Brock Street Brewing Company
A lager from Landshark ... one of my favs
A lager from Falcon Brewing Co.

It was a fun day!  Sunday is definitely a "Funday"!
