This what is left today of Swansea Castle, the ruins of a Norman castle right in the middle of Swansea city centre. It was built over 900 years ago and saw plenty of fighting during the Norman-Welsh conflicts.
Over the centuries it stopped being a military stronghold and ended up being used for other purposes, so much of the original castle disappeared. Today the most noticeable remains are parts of the stone walls and the distinctive arcaded section overlooking the city.
