Bruno Mars, The Moonshine Jungle Tour, Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, Toronto, ON

Gord and I had tickets for Bruno Mars' The Moonshine Jungle Tour at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre (about a 15 minute walk south of us).

When tickets went on sale through Ticketmaster a couple months ago, I went online right away and the best I could get within minutes were in section 400 (about $100 a ticket) which I bought.  The concert sold out (he was also here on Wednesday).  The capacity of the Amphitheatre is about 16,000.

When we got there about 8ish, Ellie Goulding, the open act, had just started.  The lawn seating was already full.

Here's the view of the stage from the bottom of the lawn seating.

We went to our seats and watched Ellie Goulding.

A lot of the crowd knew her songs and sang along.  The only song of hers I know is I Need Your Love, which she finished with at about 8:45pm.

Here are Gord and I while we were waiting for Bruno Mars.

There was a technical issue and a flooding in front of the stage so Bruno Mars didn't start 'til 10:30pm (about an hour late).  When he came on, the audience went nuts, jumped to their seats and never sat down.

This tall guy was two rows ahead of us and kept getting in my view.
The big good-bye and thanks with the last song ...
actually, no.  They came back for one encore.
Really the last song!

Despite not really being able to see a lot of the time and being so far from the stage, I had a good time.  I have both his albums so knew most of the songs.  The sound was great and the group was full of energy, always dancing or running around the stage.  At times, it was what I think a Vegas show must be like with all the lights and special effects.

Because of the cost of a ticket and the availability of tickets (it seems like the scalpers get access to the good ones first which sucks), we don't go to a lot of concerts there.

Because of the late start, it wasn't over 'til 11:45pm.  Due to the crazy way the grounds around the Amphitheatre are set up, there is only one way to get out ... so there were about 16,000 people slowly making their way the same way.  Along the way, there were guys selling illegal teeshirts (they got cheaper price-wise and quality-wise the further away from the Amphitheatre) standing and beggars sitting in the middle of the path of everyone leaving, slowing things even further.  Our usual 15 minute walk home took us about 45 minutes.

Here's the song set:
  • Moonshine
  • Natalie
  • Treasure
  • Money It's What I Want / Billionaire
  • Show Me
  • Candy Rain
  • Our First Time / Pony
  • Marry You
  • If I Knew/It Will Rain
  • Runaway Baby
  • Young Girls
  • When I Was Your Man
  • Grenade
  • Just The Way You Are
  • Locked Out Of Heaven
  • Gorilla

Surprisingly there was no The Lazy Song ... so here it is!

We have a similar venue around here, but I refuse to sit on the lawn seats.
