Churrasqueira Vira's BBQ, Toronto, ON

When I moved to Toronto, it seemed like there were lots of small Portuguese takeout restaurants around and I’d often stop in (late 1980s to mid 1990s). I’ve been thinking about them lately but there doesn’t seem to be many around anymore. I Googled and found Vira’s BBQ (on Davenport Road just west of Lansdowne Avenue).

I stopped in today and got a half rotisserie chicken dinner with rice and potatoes to go for lunch for $18. It was a heavy meal so I weighed it when I got home and it was almost 4 pounds! So delicious and enough for a couple more meals!

Vira included a small container of extra “hot” sauce and generously added a custard tart (which was yummy and I shared with Gord).

I’ll definitely be back!
