I had supper this evening with Franca and Ann at Trattoria Mercatto in the Eaton Centre.
We shared an order of Arancini (Saffron Risotto & Mozzarella, Tomato Filetto).
Franca had a Diavola pizza (Spicy Soppressata, Tomato, Fior di Latte, Basil).
I had Pan-seared Lasagna (Ricotta, Mozzarella, Besciamella, Ragù Bolognese). I love love love lasagna and this was an interesting way to have it. There was very little sauce between the pasta but it sat in a bed of sauce. The lasagna was served sideways so the noodles were side by side rather than layered on top of each other. The pan searing added an interesting touch as the top was a bit crusty. I could taste the oil, though, so smothered it in the sauce. It was fun to try but I don't think I'd get it again.
We all had a Lemon Tart (Lemon Curd, Meringue, Raspberry) for dessert, which was fun. The lemon was really tart so having the sweet raspberries and sauce toned it down a bit.
Tae was our server. She was friend and took good care of us.
