Fan and Feather Knitted Scarf

I knitted another scarf to donate using my favourite pattern, fan and feather.

I used a Caron Anniversary Cake Special Edition (the colour is Gingerbread Forest) and 6.5mm needles.

I cast on 24 stitches (a multiple of 18 plus 6).

• Knit 3 rows of garter stitch for the border
• Row 4: Knit
• Row 5: K 3, P to last 3 stitches K3
• Row 6: K3, *(K2 tog) 3 times, (yo, K1) 6 times, (K2 tog) 3 times, rep from * to last 3 sts K3
• Row 7: Knit
• Repeat Rows 4 - 7, keeping first and last 3 stitches in garter stitch, until piece measures desired length
• Knit 3 more rows of garter stitch to make the bottom border
• Cast off and darn in ends

I knitted another scarf to donate. 

I used a Caron Anniversary Cake Special Edition (the colour is Gingerbread Forest) and 6.5mm needles. It's about 5 feet long.

The pattern is easy. 

• Cast on 20 stitches. 
• Row 1: Slip first stitch purlwise. (Purl 2, knit 2) to last 3 stitches. Purl 2, knit 1. 
• Row 2: slip first stitch purlwise. Knit to the end.
• Repeat these two rows until it's the length you want.
• Bind off.

Horseshoe Resort, Barrie, ON

Gord and I spent the last three days at Horseshoe Resort (north of Barrie) … we drove up on Wednesday and came home today. It snowed and was really cold the entire time so was very Canadian. It was a fun way to start 2026!

Eleven 01, Barrie, ON

Gord and I had supper this evening at Eleven 01 at Horseshoe Resort. 

We ordered a bottle of Peller Family Rosé Bubbles to have with our meal, which we didn’t finish there, so we’re able to bring it back to our room.

We both had a “Canadian” pizza (mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, smoked bacon, vine ripened tomato sauce) … mine without mushrooms. They were good pizzas and we both took half back to our room to take home tomorrow. 

Snowshoeing at Horseshoe Resort

Gord and I aren't skiers or snowboarders so we took our snowshoes to Horseshoe Resort. 

Entry to the trails at the Nordic Centre across the street is complimentary for snowshoers and bikers staying at the resort. Since it’s been a few years since we’d done it (due to COVID and lack of snow), we snowshoed around the resort’s deep deep snow instead to get back into the groove. It was cold and snowy fun!
