Ceili's Irish Pub, Vancouver, BC

Sister Sarah and I had lunch today at Ceili's Irish Pub just off Granville Street.

It's a cozy pub on the second floor. The greeter at the door is very friendly.

Sister Sarah had nachos ... there was lots of cheese.

I had hot wings (they were good) and some of Sister Sarah's nachos.

We watched the first period of the Vancouver Canucks/San Jose Sharks hockey playoffs game (Vancouver won).

There were quite a few hockey lovers watching the game.

One thing I didn't like about this pub was that the bathrooms are unisex. The first one I went to had obviously been used by a guy ... the toilet seat was up and there was still pee in the unflushed toiled. Ew!

Here are me and Sister Sarah as we were leaving the pub to spend our last day in Vancouver exploring.

English Bay, Vancouver, BC

After we had supper at Khunnai Chang, we walked to English Bay and hung out for a while.

Though I've seen Sister Sarah and Lance over the years and they have seen each other, the three of us haven't been together in about 20 years.

There is an art exhibit there called A-Maze-ing Laughter by Yue Minjun of China.

Here's me ...

My brother, Lance, and his wife, Patty ...

Sister Sarah and Lance ...
It's squishing my head ...

Patty ...

We went to the beach ... here are Lance, Sister Sarah and me.

Sister Sarah frolicked in the water for a while ... it was cold.

Here we are ... Lance, Sister Sarah, Patty and me.

Lance and Patty ... such a nice picture!

The beach was a nice place to hang for a while.

Khunnai Chang, Vancouver, BC

My brother, Lance, and his bride of nine months, Patty, live in Vancouver.

Sister Sarah and I met them for supper at Khunnai Chang, a Thai restaurant in their 'hood.

Though I've seen Sister Sarah and Lance over the years and they have seen each other, the three of us haven't been together in about 20 years.

Here's Sister Sarah's Pad Thai with tofu ...

Here's my Pad Thai with chicken ...

Patty and Lance shared Gaeng Massaman ...

and Khung Pad Nam Prik Pao ...

It was a lot of food and was delicious! The servers were friendly and very attentive.

Here we are ... Sister Sarah, Lance, Patty and me.

Granville Island, Vancouver, BC

Sister Sarah and I caught the aquabus to Granville Island this morning.

Granville Island provides amenities such as a large public market, an extensive marina, a boutique hotel, the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Arts Umbrella, False Creek Community Centre, various performing arts theatres including the Arts Club Theatre Company and Carousel Theatre, fine arts galleries, and variety of shopping areas.

The Granville Island Public Market features a farmers market, day vendors, and artists offering a various of local Vancouver culinary offerings. There are fifty permanent retailers in the market offering local products. In addition, there are over one-hundred day vendors in stalls throughout the market selling a variety of Artisan cottage-industry foods and unique hand-made crafts on a rotating schedule.

Granville Island plays host to a variety of buskers throughout the year. Busking is encouraged by the Granville Island administration, and a group has been created to oversee the activity.

We grabbed some lunch from a couple of the vendors and at it outside ... I had Greek potatoes and Chinese BBQed pork. Sister Sarah had cheese and potato perogies. While we ate, we listened to this busker playing the bagpipes.

Here are some of the sights of the market ...

I bought two chocolate dipped strawberries and they were delicious!

Sister Sarah bought one of these ornaments that had three spoiled kitties on it.

We had a drink at Cats Social House.

There were four sets of geese parents along with their babies in the pond ... they were so cute!

Granville Street, Vancouver, BC

Sister Sarah and I walked down Granville Street this evening.

We were surprised to discover that it was closed off to traffic and everyone was walking on the street.

I stopped a policewoman and what was going on.

Apparently because of the high concentration of bars on the street, on Friday and Saturday nights from 10pm to 4am in the late spring and summer, they close a portion of the street down and there are lot of cops on patrol.

The Vancouver Canucks lost to San Jose tonight ... the bars on Granville Street were packed and lots of people spilled out onto the streets after the game.

White Tower, Vancouver, BC

Sister Sarah and I were craving pizza so we were on the hunt for a pizza restaurant for supper.

We ended up walking along Robson Street looking looking looking.

I finally stopped a woman and asked her what she would recommend. She said that White Tower has the best pizza ... so off we went.

I ordered the All Meat Pizza pizza (salami, sausage, bacon, and beef).

Sister Sarah ordered Vegetarian (mushrooms, green peppers, onion, olives, and tomatoes - she swapped the olives for pineapple).

They were okay, not great. But our craving for pizza is gone.

Our home away from home in Vancouver, BC

Sister Sarah and I are going to be in Vancouver 'til Monday.

We checked into our hotel this afternoon. We have a suite at a hotel just off the downtown core (so the rates weren't too bad).

Here's the living room.

Here's the bedroom ... we each have a double bed. Whoohoo!
