Gord and I walked to the Rhino (Queen Street W/Dufferin Street) and had supper on their patio this afternoon.

Gotta love happy hour $5 beer!

We both ordered fish and chips (beer battered haddock, house tartar, coleslaw, lemon, served with house cut fries), which was good … the batter on the fish was thin and greasy and the fish was meaty.

After we saw Sin City Boys, Gord and I had supper next door at the Rhino (Queen W/Dufferin) with Mary and Malcolm.

I ordered a hamburger (no lettuce or onions) and fries and it was good (I've had it before).  The burger was substantial and the fries were tasty.

Gord order Cajun dusted wings and said they were good.

Gord and I walked to the Rhino (Queen W/Dufferin) and had lunch on their patio this afternoon.

I ordered a hamburger and fries and it was good.  The burger was substantial and I could only eat half of it.  The fries were tasty.

Gord and I walked to the Rhino (Queen W/Dufferin) for supper this evening.  

I hadn't been out all week so it was nice to have a couple drinks, a bite to eat, relax and watch the people walking around.

We were both craving wings.  I ordered mine with medium sauce with a side of Ranch and Gord got his wings with pepper and salt.  They were large wings and and good ... we'd get them again.

We had a nice time but one thing bugged me.  As a head's up, they now have a 90 minute seating maximum if it's busy.  Our server let us know we had to leave because there was a line-up and we'd been there for over 90 minutes.  Huh?!  I don't have a problem with this but it would have been nice to know ahead of time.  Our server said she let us stay longer than the 90 minutes because it hadn't been busy and we were "nice".  We've been out to a few patios in the last month or so and this is the first time we've encountered the 90 minute maximum stay.

Gord and I had lunch today at the Rhino (Queen W/Dufferin).

It's such a nice day so we sat on the patio.

We split Mac & Cheese Balls.  They were good.  We'd get them again.

I ordered wings with medium sauce with a side of Ranch and Gord got his wings with Cajun spice.  They were large wings and we'd get them again.

I had supper this evening at the Rhino (Queen W/Dufferin) with some family.

I ordered a burger and fries.  The burger was huge (I eventually got rid of the bun and just ate the meat).  The fries were good.  It's a great deal for $8!

Our server was nice and friendly ... maybe a bit new.

Here we are ... Jenny, Deb, Jesse M., me, Heather and Jesse C. (goofing around!).

Jesse M. is my first cousin and Jenny is his girlfriend.  Heather is my first cousin, Rob's daughter (so my first cousin, once removed) and Jesse C. is her boyfriend and Deb is her mother.  Rob had passed away in December and some of his family and friends had gathered this afternoon for his memorial.

It was such a nice sunny day today ... our first thought was to find a patio to have a beer!

We walked to the Rhino on Queen Street W.

I like the Rhino because they have a great beer selection and the food is cheap.

There's Gord on the patio in the back ... everyone was trying to stay in the sun.

And here we are ...

The service, though, always sucks. Our server took a looooooooooong time to get us our second beer. Plus we waited for 50 minutes for nachos.

It's the Victoria Day weekend ... that means we have Monday off. Whoohoo!

Gord had his From Beer to There class last night and it was at the Rhino. One of the beers they tried was the Brooklyn Local 1. He liked it and wanted me to check it out.

So I met him on the patio of the Rhino after work.

We ordered a Brooklyn Local 1. The bottle is the size of a wine bottle and is carbonated like a sparkling wine. It tastes sweet.

Alas the weather didn't deliver as promised ... instead of being warm and sunny, it turned cloudy and chilly.

I met Gord after work (I conducted a retirement seminar in North Toronto today) at The Rhino, a bar in Parkdale, the 'hood next to ours. Gord likes the Rhino because of its fabulous beer selection (hundreds from around the world).

I hadn't eaten all day and was starving! I had wings (medium sauce) for supper.

They were jumbo, as promised, but kind of bland ... just deep fried with a bit of sauce. The price was cheaper than most places, though.

Gord had fish 'n chips.

The portion was good but he found the fish a bit soggy.

The service was really really bad and slow.

On our way home, we stopped off at The Rhino. We'd discovered this bar in the summer and liked it.

If you are a lover of beer (as Gord is), then this is the place for you! They have quite an extensive list of beer and drafts ... 226 beer from 42 countries!

Gord had a Wellington Arkell Best Bitter, a Canadian beer

I had a Cooper's Sparkling Ale from Australia.

Gord moved on to Belgium with a Chimay Blue.

I went to Jamaica with a Red Stripe.
