Gord's mom, Minnie, his sister, Judy, and Judy's husband, Doug, live near Madoc (about a half hour north of Belleville). We drove down today (about a 2.5 hour drive) and had lunch with them at the Barley Pub & Eatery.
Gord ordered the Classic Barley Burger with bacon and onion rings. It looked like a good burger and he said it was. That's what Judy got too and she liked hers too. I'll get that next time.

Barley Pub & Eatery, Madoc, ON
Gord and I are spending the weekend with his family ... they live about 2.5 hours NW of Toronto. We are staying with his sister, Judy, and her husband, Doug.
We met Gord's mom, Minnie, and step-dad, Keith, for supper at the Barley Pub in Madoc ... it used to be a firehall and jail years ago.
Here are Minnie and Keith.
Minnie and Keith ordered fish 'n chips. Judy ordered pasta with chicken. Doug ordered a hot hamburger sandwich. Our server joked and asked if he wanted a cold one. Hardy-har-har. Then he brought Doug a regular burger instead (which Doug ate rather than correcting him).
Gord ordered Smoked Meat on Rye with onion rings. He said the sandwich was great but small.
I ordered garlic bread with cheese and hot wings. The garlic bread was good. The wings were good (not too hot), though overcooked (a bit hard and dried up).
There are two rooms ... one is the front room which is pub-style and there's a back room overlooking the creek, which is where we sat.
Here we are ... Judy, me, Gord, Minnie, Keith and Doug.
There aren't a lot of places to hang out in Madoc and the Barley Pub is a cool one to spend some time having a bite to eat and few drinks.

Barley Pub & Eatery, Madoc, ON
Gord and I are spending the night at his mom's and his stepdad's (Minnie and Keith) today. They live outside of Madoc (about a 2.5 hour drive NE of Toronto).
We took them for supper at Barley Pub & Eatery in Madoc ... there are not a lot of places to choose from. It's a cute pub. Interestingly enough, the pub part used to be the Madoc fire hall and the attached kitchen and bathrooms was the jail.

Gord had a chicken panini sandwich and onion rings. He said they were good.
Minnie, Keith and I had the steak and fries special ... $7.99. I had mine with mashed potatoes.
It was good ... the steak was a bit overcooked and charred, though.
Our server took good care of us. We'd told her that we were celebrating Minnie's birthday and she surprised Minnie with a piece of cake with a candle.
I had a piece of caramel brownie ... it was really sweet!
