Toronto Argonauts 20 ~ Calgary Stampeders 48, BMO Field, Toronto ON

Through work, Gord got a couple free tickets to this evening's Toronto Argos game.  They now play at BMO Field, which isn't too far from where we live so it was a nice walk down and back.

The Toronto Argonotes, the Argos' official band, played enthusiastically outside the stadium before the game.

We paused as we walked to our seats to watch the Argos warm up.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada.

There was a ceremony before the game honouring former Argo players Michael "Pinball" Clemons, Rodney Harding and Derrell "Mookie" Mitchell.

Toronto Argos 30 - Saskatchewan Roughriders 26, Rogers Centre, Toronto, ON

My pal, Shawna, lives in Regina and is a big Saskatchewan Roughriders fan.  The Riders were playing the Toronto Argos here in Toronto tonight (it was there home opener) so it was a good excuse for she and her friend, Shelli (another Riders fan), to spend a long weekend here.

Shawna asked who wanted to go and Gord and I said "yes".

Here come the Argos ...

Toronto Argonauts 24, Hamilton Tiger-Cats 36, East Division final, Roger Centre, Toronto, ON

I'm not a football fan ... I know the basic rules and that's about it.  Gord, though, is a big Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan ... they were playing the Toronto Argonauts (Argos) here in Toronto this afternoon for the Eastern Division final so we went to the game.  Whoever won today's game would be going on to the Grey Cup game next Sunday in Regina against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

We ordered our tickets last Sunday and the only ones available were in the "visitors" section, which suited Gord fine since we sat among other Tiger-Cats fans ... which meant we entered with the Tiger-Cats fans who quite enthusiastically supported their team.

Toronto Argos 9, Saskatchewan Roughriders 13

Gord and I went to the football game tonight ... Toronto Argos versus Saskatchewan Roughriders. Alas, we lost.

Rather than sit in the stands, we instead watched it from Sightlines, a buffet restaurant that overlooks the field. The food was good (I ate waaay too much) and the staff was amazingly friendly. The manager, Jason, came over a few times to make sure that everything was okay and remembered our names (very impressive considering the place was packed).

Towards the end, I had a peach and discovered it was rotten. I casually mentioned it to Anna Mae, our server, and the next thing I know Jason came over apologizing and deducted the cost my meal off our bill ($35).

Though I don't understand football (I find it a very confusing game), we had a fun night!
