Staycation - Tuesday

Our dishwasher started leaking substantially last spring.

The last time it broke about five years ago, it cost us about $700 to "fix" it because we ended up having to buy a new one.  It's an apartment-sized one and they aren't cheap.

So we kept putting off having it checked and did dishes the old-fashioned way.

My "to-do" thing for today was to find out what was going on with it.  If it wasn't going to cost too much, I'd get it fixed.  If it was going to be a lot, at least we'd know.

Mike the repair guy arrived this morning and took a look at it.  He said it needed a new gasket (the rubber thing that goes around the door) and the springs needed to be replaced in the door (they had been non-existent for a long time).  He said it would cost about $250 to fix.  I thought that was reasonable so he came back this afternoon with the parts.

I haven't used it yet but Mike tested it and there was no leakage.  Yay!  Fingers crossed it stays that way when I do a load of dishes (probably tomorrow).

My lower back is still bugging me so I went for a 90 minute massage with Marion after that ... it felt soooooo good!

February 13 update:  I ran the dishwasher this evening and there was no leakage.  Yay!
