Whenever the phone rings and I see it's a telemarketer, I either don't answer or I do answer with a stern "Hello". Usually when the person gets into their spiel, I cut them off, say I'm not interested and hang up.
The phone rang one evening last week and I answered and this one caught my interest. It was a woman calling from BBM wondering if we'd be interested in participating in their radio survey.
I always wondered how they did the ratings and now I was going to be part of the process so I agreed. She asked me some qualifying questions and said our radio diaries would be in the mail for anyone in our household over the age of 12 (so Gord and I).
The radio diaries arrived today.
I have to track from 5am to 1am every day for a week (starting Monday):
- Station name
- Dial position
- AM/FM
- Place (home, vehicle, work or other)
At the end of the week, I mail it back in the SASE.
As a token of thanks, they enclosed $2.
Do you still listen to the radio?

I mostly listen to the radio in the car and occasionally at home. Long ago I registered for the do not call list and still get this annoying surveys. Spent about 10 minutes on the phone with the "office de la langue francaise" the other night completing a survey as to whether I think french is under represented here in Quebec. These people are delusional calling an English.
I hardly ever listen to the radio. In fact my ipod ran out of juice on a road trip this weekend and I thought I was going to go nuts trying to find a decent radio station...I was not successful.
All day at work (home) $2.00!?
That is the cheapest focus group ever!
I can honestly say I've never heard of someone calling for a focus group like that!
I don't really listen to the radio through-Every now and again when I'm in the car going somewhere, but that's pretty much the extent of it.
I still listen to the radio on the way to work. If there is nothing good on, I put on a cd.
Only in the truck. I have my Ipod for the subway, and if we're listening to music at home, it's usually cd's. We'd probably listen to computer radio stations at home if we had better speakers.
I like listening to talk radio, until they get on my nerves arguing about politics for hours on end!
Love the new blog look!
