Toronto is hosting the G20 summit this weekend.
Gord works downtown, just outside the area where the meetings will be held which has been fenced-in and and has high security. His office is located in the "yellow" zone, just outside that area. To ensure they can continue to work in case his building goes into a lockdown state, he and 10 of his co-workers have been relocated further outside the zone to a branch office.
Here are some pictures he took last week.

Wellington Street ...

The Blue Jays relocated this weekend's game to Philadelphia ...

Front Street ...

The Convention Centre where the meetings will take place ...

There is a high police presence in the area ...

Every corner in the area has surveillance cameras ...

For safely reasons and to avoid hassles, many companies downtown have told their employees to work from home today and tomorrow. Those that are working have been told to dress casually and keep their building passes hidden so they won't get hassled by the protesters. Stores and businesses have boarded up their storefronts and are staying closed until Monday.
I work midtown and have been advised to work from home today and tomorrow.

I work in the security zone and have been at home since y'day. Is crazy how much this summit is costing the city!
I'll be avoiding the downtown core this weekend.
ummm so whats the g20 summit. lol i think i may feel stupid for saying that.
my brother & his girlfriend both work inside the red zone - he works security so he's on call 24hrs, but she works in the financial district - her firm gave them a take one get one option with vacation days so she took advantage of the offer & went out west to visit family. i don't blame her - i'd get the heck out of there too- she works on the 51st floor - that's a miserable hike in an emergency.
i dont know what a g20 summit is either but it looks serious!
