As I said, I started a "real" job today.
There are lots of benefits in freelancing ...
- Your day is never the same.
- You get to do a variety of different things.
- You don't work every day so you can do whatever you want.
- You can sleep in some days.
- You don't have to dress up all the time.
- The pets like the company of having you work at home.
- You don't have to put up with any office politics.
- No pension plan.
- No benefits (though I was covered under Gord's).
- You have to hustle for work.
- No guarantee of having work next month which means no $$.
- You spend a lot of time on your own.
- You sometimes have to work evenings and weekends.
- There's no Christmas party.

Oh I know - I've made the switch back to regular job too ... whatever I'm not doing is what I think is best, HA!
What offices HAVE Christmas parties anymore?????
Drowsey: hard to know what to do as they both have their advantages.
LeeAnn: Lots! I'm the date of three of my friends for a big one!
Good luck with the "real" job.
Congrats on the new job!
I go back and forth on freelance vs stability. I like stability, but I love freedom of when to do things. Its a VERY tough decision.
Freelancers also miss out on office gossip - there's no one at my coffee machine except poor ol' me :(
Congrats on the new job!
Congrats and good luck!
Well, I'm tempted to go freelance, but also happy to have a job. The options are well described by you and its hard to decide.
Would have missed the Christmas Party though :-)
Good luck with the new job.
